Gyeonggi-do is the province that surrounds Seoul, made up of dozens of satellite cities. Two of the best known to foreign residents are Pangyo, often called Korea's "Silicon Valley" for its concentration of tech companies, and Bundang, a well-planned, family-friendly city known for its schools and green space — both part of Seongnam city, just south of Seoul.
Pangyo — Korea's tech hub
Pangyo Techno Valley hosts major Korean tech companies and a growing number of startups, and draws a working population of tech and biotech professionals. It's a newer, planned business district with modern office towers and apartments built up around them.
Bundang — planned, family-friendly
Bundang, immediately next to Pangyo, was one of Korea's original planned "new towns," and is known today for its wide streets, parks, good schools and a more spacious, less dense feel than most of Seoul. It attracts families who want more space for a comparable or lower budget than central Seoul.

The Sinbundang Line runs express service from Pangyo/Jeongja through Gangnam to central Seoul, making the commute from Bundang/Pangyo into Gangnam significantly faster than from many parts of Seoul itself. Bundang Line (수인분당선) also connects the area to the wider Seoul subway network.
Who tends to live here
Bundang and Pangyo suit people who work in the area's tech industry, or who want more space and a family-friendly environment while keeping a reasonably fast commute into Gangnam. Other Gyeonggi-do cities (Goyang, Suwon, Yongin and others) offer similar trade-offs of space and affordability for a longer or different commute into Seoul.
