Incheon Real Estate for Foreigners
Incheon is Korea's third-largest city, directly west of Seoul, and home to Incheon International Airport and the Songdo International Business District — a planned city with a large international-school and expat presence. Housing in Incheon is generally more affordable than equivalent space in Seoul, and the city is connected to Seoul by subway line 1 and the AREX airport railroad.
What living in Incheon is like
Incheon is its own metropolitan city, not a Seoul suburb, but it functions as part of the wider Seoul Capital Area for many residents who commute in. Songdo, its best-known international district, was purpose-built with wide streets, high-rises, international schools and a concentration of biotech and logistics companies — it has one of Korea's larger foreign-resident communities outside Seoul itself. Older parts of the city, like around Incheon Station and Bupyeong, have a different, more traditional character.
Getting around
Incheon connects to Seoul via subway line 1 (a long but direct ride into central Seoul) and the AREX airport railroad, which runs an express service from Incheon International Airport through Gimpo to Seoul Station. Within Incheon, Incheon Subway Line 1 and Line 2 cover Songdo, Bupyeong and the airport area.
Who tends to live here
Incheon suits people who work at or near the airport, in Songdo's biotech/logistics/international-business cluster, or who want more space for a lower budget than central Seoul and don't mind a longer commute. Songdo in particular has a well-established expat community and several international schools.
