What Is Pyeong (평)?
Definition
The traditional Korean unit of floor area; one pyeong ≈ 3.3 square metres.
A pyeong (평) is the customary unit of floor area in Korea. One pyeong ≈ 3.3㎡ (3.305785㎡). Although official documents use square metres, listings and price statistics are still quoted per pyeong — e.g. ₩45,000,000 per pyeong.
Why it matters
Price-per-pyeong is the cleanest way to compare homes of different sizes across districts. The prices page lists median ₩/pyeong for every Seoul gu.
