Leasing & Deposits
Definition
A hybrid lease: a large deposit (smaller than full jeonse) plus a modest monthly rent.
Banjeonse (반전세, 'half-jeonse') sits between jeonse and wolse — a sizeable refundable deposit combined with a reduced monthly rent. It has become common as landlords seek some monthly income while tenants put down a partial lump sum.
Banjeonse lets you trade a bigger deposit for lower monthly payments (or vice versa). The same deposit-protection steps as jeonse apply, since the lump sum is still substantial.
