Need proof the translation is accurate?

Korean law (the 2013 Translation Certification Administrative Guidelines, Art. 5) sets two distinct document types for certifying a translation matches its original: a 번역자확인서 (translator confirmation — anyone can prepare it) and a 번역확인증명서 (translation verification certificate — issuable only by a licensed translation administrative agent registered for that exact language).

What the certificate confirms

• The translation is a faithful rendering of the original document
• The issuing agent is registered specifically for the Spanish language — a critical detail, since an unlicensed issuer's certificate has no legal effect
• Issued as a standalone certificate you attach to your translation

Who needs this

Anyone whose receiving institution — a foreign embassy, a Korean government office, a bank, a school, or an employer — specifically asks for a 번역확인증명서 rather than accepting a simple translator confirmation. This is common for visa filings, marriage registration, academic recognition, and any document headed to Spain or a Latin American country where the receiving office wants documented proof of the translator's qualification.

Why this document exists

A plain translation, even an accurate one, carries no legal weight on its own — anyone can claim a translation is correct. Korean regulations solved this by creating a formally regulated certificate that only a registered, language-specific administrative agent can issue, giving receiving institutions a verifiable, accountable chain: the agent's registration can be checked, and their name is on the certificate.
